Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a a desire to bring bookish friends together. You can find a schedule of upcoming TTT topics here.

Today’s topic is books on my Fall TBR. This was a little difficult because I don’t anticipate reading that much with a newborn, but I’ve managed to narrow down ten books that I hope to read soon.

Fall TBR:

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue has to be, by far, my most anticipated read of the year. Honestly, she had me at girl makes a deal with the devil. Sign me up! I cannot wait to read this. I did order the Owl Crate special edition box, so I hope it doesn’t come to late, but, like I said, I don’t expect I’ll have all that much time to read with a newborn anyway.

I have been of fan of Naomi Novik since her fairytale retellings, Uprooted and Spinning Silver. I have yet to read her first series, Temeraire, but I am very much looking forward to the start of her next series with A Deadly Education. Novik’s writing is always incredible and I’m excited to see her take on dark magic academia.

One Way or Another is set to release October 6. I offered to help out the author after she was forced to cancel her blog tour due to moral obligations. So, I’ll be reading and reviewing this one very soon. This contemporary romance sounds right up my alley.

I preordered Crescent City and I still have yet to read it. Initially, I was intimidated by the size. Then, I heard too many mixed reviews, which made me unmotivated to pick it up. I am determined to read it before ACOSF releases in February though. I feel I’m prepared for some lengthy world building and info dumps, in exchange for meeting Hunt and Bryce.

I have had Wicked Saints since it released as well. It sounds great and I’m not sure why I haven’t read it yet, but I recently read that it has some mild Reylo vibes and now I’m motivated. I’m glad the sequel is out as well although I’ll have to wait a bit for book 3.

I bought A Winter’s Promise because of a bad review I read. I had heard of it prior to reading that particular review. I knew it was originally written in French and that many bookstagrammers absolutely loved it, but, for some reason, it was this one scathing review that convinced me to buy it. Recently, I’ve seen Emily Duncan, author of Wicked Saints, raving about it on Twitter, so now I’m all the more curious.

I purchased Flames of Chaos as soon as it released. Are we noticing a pattern here? I’ve never read any of Amelia Hutchins books, but they are constantly recommended to fans of the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. To be completely honest, I don’t know much about it, but it seemed as good a place as any to start my Hutchins journey. I do also have the first of the Fae Chronicles, but this series seems to be more manageable since it is just getting started. I know book 2 releases soon and book 3 not far behind it, so I would really like to read this one ASAP.

I’ve owned this book forever and I’m going to read it. That’s all I have to say anymore.

I was involved in the bookstagram tour for book 1, Beasts of the Frozen Sun. I was honestly surprised with how much I loved it and have been dying for book 2 ever since. Well guys, Kingdom of Ice & Bone is finally here! This beauty just released TODAY and you can bet I’m going to get my hands on a copy ASAP. This series is perfect for fans of Sky in the Deep.

This is going to shock you all, but I’ve owned Reaper at the Gates…. you guessed it… since it released. What is my life? LOL. I haven’t read it because there was such a long wait for book 4 that I knew I’d completely forget everything that happened. Now, with the book 4 release looming ever closer, I finally feel the urgency to read it. I can’t wait to get back to Laia and Elias. This series is so good and NEEDS to be on your TBR if you haven’t read it. Bonus: it’s about to be a completed series!

Well, there you have it. A couple new releases and some great books that have been plaguing my tbr shelves for too long. I hope I can find the time this Fall to read at least a few of them. Have you read any of these? Any that you recommend I reach for first? Let me know in the comments what you are looking forward to reading this Fall!

  1. I’m also looking forward to Addie and a Deadly Education! Reaper at the Gates is one I preordered but didn’t read, but that was intentional as I didn’t want to read it too far before book 4. I am planning on listening to the audiobook this month or next! I’ve read Wicked Saints and We Hunt the Flame and really enjoyed both. Wicked Saints was dark and moody and I’m reading the sequel, Ruthless Gods, currently! Hope you’re able to get to at least a few of these with your soon to be little one!

    1. Let me know if you listen to the audiobook. I’m thinking of doing an audio reread of the first two before I dive into Reaper.

      1. Oh I definitely recommend the audio reread! The US Audio is with Steve West and Fiona Hardingham and they are so good! I recently did an audio reread of the first two and am waiting on the audio for Reaper from the library now. =)

  2. I requested A Winter’s Promise from the library after seeing Ashley Poston, the author of Geekerely, rave about it on Instagram. There’s quite a wait list!

I’m planning to read Uprooted by Naomi Novik soon. I haven’t read any of her fairy tale books. I read a few of her Temeraire series and they were pretty good. Temeraire’s special dragon ability unintentionally strikes me as funny, which ruins the mood a bit. But that’s on me, not the author.

I hope you enjoy these when you get to them!
