Hi book lovers! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been able to blog, BUT I have a good excuse. I’m happy to announce the birth of my son, Asher, on October 1st! I’ve been taking in all the baby snuggles and catching up on sleep when I can. As such, I haven’t gotten much reading in, let alone writing, but I’m ready to get back to the grind!

For those of you that don’t follow me on other social outlets, I’m planning to participate in #NaNoWriMo again this year. So, in addition to reading, reviewing, blogging, etc… I’ll also be working on my YA/NA fantasy novel. I have a lot of prepping to do before November and I’d love to connect with other writers who are participating! My username is Dbagenstose. Feel free to add me as a buddy!

Anyway, it’s time for another WWW Wednesday! This meme was originally hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and has been revived by Sam A. Stevens at Taking On a World of Words. To participate, just answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading:

My mother and I are finishing up the Clash of Kingdoms trilogy by Erin Summerill with Once a King. This installment follows two characters, who were secondary characters in book 2. It was a little strange departing from the main characters of the first two books, but I’m intrigued by the developing relationship. That being said, the overall plot seems to be lacking. What seems to be a relatively minor conflict (with what I’m sure will be an easy solution) is being drawn out far too long. I have less than 150 pages remaining of the book, but it doesn’t appear to be wrapping up in any hurry. Unfortunately, this is a series that has gotten worse with each book. Very disappointing.

I’m currently listening to Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody and loving it. I realize this book is a couple years old now, but the third and final book just released AND it was free with Audible Plus. (Have I mentioned how much I’m loving Audible Plus?) I didn’t know anything about this book going into it, but I am pleasantly surprised by the world-building and characters. I’m not that far into it yet, but I have high hopes for this series. Really should have picked this one to read with my mom.

BTW if you have any suggestions for completed series or standalones that I could buddy read with my mom, please drop them in the comments!

The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco was just not for me. I recognize that it was well written (hence the 3 stars), however I was not drawn into the story or characters at all. It is an interesting concept that I think will appeal to a lot of readers, so don’t let my opinion sway you from picking it up.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I loved One Way or Another by Kara McDowell. I have a review of this one coming soon, but I want to thank the author for providing me with a copy. This YA romance is perfect for fans of Again, But Better AND it released earlier this month, so make sure you pick up a copy.

Project Runway goes to Comic Con in an epic queer love story about creativity, passion, and finding the courage to be your most authentic self.

Raffy has a passion for bedazzling. Not just bedazzling, but sewing, stitching, draping, pattern making―for creation. He’s always chosen his art over everything―and everyone―else and is determined to make his mark at this year’s biggest cosplay competition. If he can wow there, it could lead to sponsorship, then art school, and finally earning real respect for his work. There’s only one small problem… Raffy’s ex-boyfriend, Luca, is his main competition.

Raffy tried to make it work with Luca. They almost made the perfect team last year after serendipitously meeting in the rhinestone aisle at the local craft store―or at least Raffy thought they did. But Luca’s insecurities and Raffy’s insistence on crafting perfection caused their relationship to crash and burn. Now, Raffy is after the perfect comeback, one that Luca can’t ruin.

But when Raffy is forced to partner with Luca on his most ambitious build yet, he’ll have to juggle unresolved feelings for the boy who broke his heart, and his own intense self-doubt, to get everything he’s ever wanted: choosing his art, his way.

Next up, I’m reading Be Dazzled by Ryan La Sala. I got this from NetGalley and I’m reviewing it for Once Upon a Book Club Box. It is set to release in January as long as it doesn’t get pushed back like everything else.

Have you read any of these books? Let me know what you’re currently reading in the comments! Feel free to drop your WWW links too.
